Unfortunately Dr Maguire himself has taken ill and requires hospital treatment which means he will be away from the surgery for up to 3 months.

Please see Dr Maguire’s notice to all patients below:

11th August 2016

Dear patients

I’m sorry to report that I need to be away from the practice for a few weeks to take some sick time of my own.

Some of you might know that I developed a problem earlier this year and needed an operation. I’ve been under close hospital surveillance since as there was always a good chance that I would need some chemotherapy.

Although I’ve felt as fit as a flea throughout this whole process, a scan this week has ‘shown a lymph node’ and so I need to go straight in to hospital and have three lots of chemo.

The good news is that this treatment certainly should now be curative, but it does mean that I need to be away from work for three months, with immediate effect.

I’m truly sorry for the disruption that this is going to cause and please bear with us while we re-arrange appointments, especially in the short term.

Needless to say, you remain in very good hands with the rest of the team and we are already making arrangements to get some high quality extra locum cover in place.

I look forward to seeing you all again, by mid-November.

With best wishes

Dr Alan Maguire
