About Branch End Surgery

We are a well established General Practice, providing health care to the population of Stocksfield and the surrounding areas. We have been practising here for over 40 years and we are proud to have gained ourselves a big reputation for providing quality health care and service! Yet we are still forward thinking enough to be up to date with current methods of care. We always strive to deliver the best possible care.

Patient Focus and Team work

That’s what we are about. You can learn about our team of Doctors and Nurses by using the Our Team tab at the top of this page.

We work very well as a team and we aim to constantly improve our services, in response to feedback and changing needs.

We remain dynamic and vibrant at a time of change and pressure from a variety of sources. We work well with our local colleagues, in hospitals and with the Care Trust.

We are keen participants in clinical and commissioning activities in the West Locality and are well respected by our colleagues in both primary and secondary care.

We are a Teaching Practice

Fully qualified hospital doctors with a real interest to specialise in General Practice are placed with us by the University of Newcastle for a period of 6 to 12 months as part of their further training.

Known as Specialist Registrars, their exceptional clinical talents and knowledge have real benefits to our patients and the practice as a whole. As we are a training practice, your medical records may be used as part of our teaching and could also be examined by external assessors – but don’t worry, it’s all STRICTLY CONFIDENTIAL and if you don’t want us to use your records, then we won’t! Just say, we won’t mind!

We may also ask you if you wish to be involved in any training in the practice. This could include having a medical student in attendance during your appointment with the doctor, or have a video taken of your consultation. Again, if you don’t want to be involved, just let us know.

Our training doctors are very well supervised.

We are accessible!

We have made our building a welcome place for our patients to visit.  If you use a wheelchair, we have everything to make your visit comfortable. We also have two parking spaces reserved for you – one right in front of the surgery and one in our carpark. Downstairs, we have consulting rooms, wide automatic doors and an accessible toilet. Please just ask the receptionist if your prefer to be seen downstairs.

If you are hard of hearing we have an induction loop fitted.

Urgent Appointments

If you need to be seen by a doctor urgently and you can’t wait until the next routine appointment, we will try and offer you an ‘urgent appointment’ on the same day. As this appointment will be fitted in around our other appointments, we can’t always say exactly what time it will be – so you may have a wait.

Alternatively you may wish to to visit the Hexham Urgent Care Centre located at Hexham General Hospital, or Blaydon Walk In Centre (Blaydon Leisure Centre) or dial NHS 111 to deal with your matter.

If your matter is an emergency – please ring 999.
