In January we had a total of 45 wasted GP appointments.

We appreciate that people lead increasingly busy lives and can overlook doctor’s appointments, but we feel obliged to keep advertising these numbers, as we could have used this lost appointment time to see other patients, had we been given adequate notice.

It is extremely frustrating to not be able to give patients an appointment and then to see this amount of wasted GP time!

To enable us to best utilize precious appointment time with our clinicians, we respectfully ask that, if you know that you will not be able to make it to an appointment, you please let us know, with as much notice as possible, so that we can allocate the time to someone else instead. We operate a cancellation list so patients who are willing or able to come down to the surgery within short notice are able to get an appointment that same day.

The practice reviews cases of non-attendance on a regular basis.

Repeated cases of non-attendance will be actively managed – it is standard NHS practice that recurrent offenders might be asked to register elsewhere.
