We have noticed an increase in non standard containers being used to submit urine samples for dip-testing in patients who suspect they have an infection.

To avoid cross-contamination please note we have a long standing policy of only accepting specimens in sterile containers.

These are available from the surgery or, for a small charge, the local chemist.

Unfortunately, other containers not conforming to our policy will be rejected at reception as per instructions from the GP’s and nursing staff.

If you are unsure about which bottle you should obtain, please ask at reception.

More often than not, it will be a white topped container for urine and a blue topped container for stool samples.

Staff cannot under any circumstances, decant samples into approved containers.

We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause you.
